AGU Position Statements and Letters

Position Statements

From time to time the AGU Council adopts position statements that relate the understanding and application of the geophysical sciences to relevant public policy. In making such statements, the Council limits itself to positions that are within the range of available geophysical data or norms of legitimate scientific debate. AGU invites its members to submit proposals for new position statements. If you see a need for a new position statement, please fill out the submission form.


AGU strives to increase awareness and explain the importance of Earth and space science to inform decisions and help shape policy. To do so, AGU writes as well as joins letters that provide information and bring attention to issues that affect the science community.
