NSF Requests Comments on Draft Geosciences Priorities Report

4 September 2014
AGU Science Policy Alert 14-10

The National Science Foundation (NSF) Advisory Committee for the Geosciences Directorate (AC GEO) requests public comments on the draft report, “Dynamic Earth: GEO Priorities and Frontiers 2015-2020.

The draft document takes a different perspective than the 2009 priorities report, “Geo Vision.” Responding to the current climate of limited resources, “Dynamic Earth” seeks to set actionable goals and objectives for the next five years, focusing on a near-term plan for GEO-wide priorities. The four divisions within GEO (Atmosphere/Geospace, Earth, Ocean, and Polar) each have planning activities with more detailed information on specific research programs.

AGU highly encourages its members as well as other GEO stakeholders to share their views on the document. Comments are due Friday, 12 September 2014 and should be emailed to geovision@nsf.gov.
