AGU co-sponsors a handful of annual Congressional Visits Days (CVD), providing an opportunity for our members to meet with their legislators in Washington, DC, or at home. During the visits, participants discuss the importance of federally funded science research as well as their own research. Contact AGU staff if you are interested in any of these events.
Climate Science Day on Capitol Hill – March 2019
This issue-specific event was created to connect legislators with local climate experts in their districts, to ensure policy makers have the best possible climate science information available to them from trusted sources.
AGU Congressional Visits Day (AGU CVD) – April 2019
This event brings together scientists and educators from AGU’s breadth of sciences to share the wonder and value of Earth and space science with key legislators. For the second year, this event will be integrated with AGU’s Voices for Science program.
Local District Visits – August 2019
You can also show your legislators the value of your science during congressional recesses in your district. This is a great way to build key congressional relationships close to home. Take this opportunity to invite your legislators to your lab or institution or schedule a meeting in their district office. AGU’s toolkits provide step-by-step instructions.
Geoscience Congressional Visits Day (Geo-CVD) – 10-11 September 2019
Join other Earth and space scientists at this fall event to discuss the importance of supporting federally funded research with your legislators. Apply today.
