AGU Science Policy Alert 15:15
AGU is in the process of revising its hazards position statement. A panel of AGU members was assembled to review and update the current statement on hazards for Board consideration in late 2015. Read the draft statement.
As an AGU member, you have an opportunity to provide comments to the panel on this draft. Comments should be submitted via the online form.
AGU’s position statement on hazards was originally adopted in 1996, revised and reaffirmed in 2000, reaffirmed in 2004 and 2005, and revised and reaffirmed in 2007 and 2012. The 2012 revisions were limited to the addition of an italicized summary paragraph after the statement title, such as was included on all AGU position statements. The 2015 panel was charged with rewriting the statement to reflect scientific and political progress and needs since the statement was revised in 2007.
The deadline for comments is 30 September 2015.
