Recently Senator Patty Murray (WA-D), the new Chairwoman of the Senate Budget Committee, launched “MyBudget”, an online platform for people to weigh in on budget issues. The site is looking for people to share their stories, thoughts on budget priorities, and other ideas with members of Congress.
Why is investment in space research and technology important? Do you have thoughts on the Keystone Pipeline and shale gas exports? Are you concerned with deteriorating water resources in your state? Now you can share your concerns directly with the members who craft the Senate budget. Shared stories should relate personal experiences that can help members of Congress understand what’s at stake for the communities and people they represent. Let them know what you think should be a priority when constructing the budget and what ideas you may have to cut spending or strengthen programs that fund science.
“The federal budget is where we lay out our values, our priorities, and our vision for what our government should look like now and in the future,” Murray said, “So I believe that it is absolutely critical that the ideas and perspectives of families across America are heard loud and clear in a budget process that belongs to them, but is too often limited to politicians and bureaucrats.”
Take the time to learn more and contribute at MyBudget.
